Erin and Charlie will be getting married in October, and she wanted a wedding sign with their colors of champagne/gold and white. I think the colors turned out really nicely on the stained wood!
Best wishes to the two of them as they begin their new life together!
On another note, Chocolate Butterbean created some signs for the baby shower of a dear friend this past weekend. Her husband’s name is Ryan, and she calls him “Rhino” as a nickname, so to celebrate the quickly approaching arrival of her baby boy, baby rhinos were on the signs and details. I’m hoping to get some better pictures to post at a later date, but below is just a taste:
My friend Carlee partnered with leslie&b photography for an inspirational photoshoot focused on one of my favorite Southern treats – peaches! They needed an invitation design, and I was happy to oblige. The shoot turned out gorgeous, and you can’t even tell how hot it must have been on that southern July afternoon! Below is an image of the invitations (a slightly different version with their names hand-penned). Visit Carlee’s blog to see more of the deliciousness!
Jessica and TJ are getting married next Saturday on a ranch in Colorado – it sounds like it’s going to be beautiful! She wanted two signs with a simple, rustic style, and cards explaining their relationship to place at each rehearsal dinner setting to prompt guests for toasting. Both signs have vignetted edges to add to the aged look, and their names are hand penned.
Best wishes to Jess & TJ! Today is the official launch of Southern Proper’s Town & Country Collection for fall 2010. Definitely check out the gorgeous website update, and watch the slideshow of photos from the shoot on the homepage, should you need any inspiration! These richly colored ties and bowties would be perfection for a fall wedding, and they have also added a collection of generously proportioned gingham bowties, if you prefer something more classic and subtle. Don’t forget, too, that Southern Proper offers custom ties for brides and will work with you to create the perfect pattern to match your wedding day aesthetic!
Thanks to the ladies of A Big to Do Event Planning for featuring Chocolate Butterbean on their blog today! They reached out to me to write up a guest post focusing on wedding invitation trends, and I was happy to do so. Not that any of the information is “new” news to those of you in the wedding industry, but new brides delving into all these details for the first time may find some of the musing helpful! Check it out here. Below are the response card designs included in the post:

Whew, it is hot! I am working hard, trying desperately to get to the bottom of the signs on my list before the baby bump and this third trimester slump that keeps threatening to arrive fully interferes with my mobility. I am excited about the projects on my plate, however, and look forward to posting them as they are done over the next few days and weeks!
Today, I just finished up a sign for a client whose parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this week. What a blessing, to be able to spend a lifetime with the person you love most, and what a special twist on the signs I usually create for those starting out on their journey together.
Also, sweet bride Heather was married just this past weekend! I’m hoping she is totally relaxed on her honeymoon right now and soaking in the fulfillment of all the planning she has been doing over the past year. She has been such a delightful client, and I hope one day I’ll be making a sign for her and Brian’s 50th wedding anniversary! Below is the sign she ordered as a gift for him to give him on their wedding day. They are both from North Carolina, and this nostalgic quote by Thomas Wolfe is something that likely strikes a chord on the heart of most UNC-ers.
Lastly, some friends and myself threw a baby shower for our mama-to-be friend Mary Beth on Saturday. (I’m hoping to post more pictures later). Below are two quick signs created to go in little Marshall’s nursery:
Allison and Hunt are getting married this Saturday at the Atlanta History Center. She wanted a welcome sign, as well as a sign for their photo booth area. Best wishes, you two (for both a lifetime of love and a beautiful, breezy afternoon on Saturday)!
Candy and John will be getting married next weekend, and John’s mother purchased the below sign as a gift for the both of them to display at their reception and then in their home. So sweet! John’s mother sent me photos of the couple to create their silhouettes. Best wishes, you two!
I just posted an announcement on the website about ordering deadlines for signs and invitations this fall, so if you are considering placing an order, please read the below information! I will be posting regular blog updates about projects and other news until the New Year, when Chocolate Butterbean will be back to serve 2011 brides.
(Also, I meant to post about the positively gorgeous cake that Mamie of Miss Mamie’s baked for us to announce that we are having a girl. I had seen a few other people do this and thought it would be fun. We had the ultrasound tech write down the news and put it in a sealed envelope, which we passed onto Mamie, and she made a delicious strawberry cake and carefully iced it in white so there was no trace on the outside! We had family and friends over and waited until after we had supper to cut the cake and all discover the news. Below is a picture of her creation, as well as a picture of it after we enjoyed some of it!)
Laura is one of my sister’s sweet Birmingham friends, and she is getting married next weekend. I am sure it will be a really gorgeous wedding – I have seen some of her details along the way, and they are all fabulous! Ashley (my sister) is a bridesmaid, and Laura thoughtfully sent her an adorable teacup and saucer from Anthropologie with a note that said: ”Vintage teacups…friendship…Southern weddings…what do all of these have in common? You!” And then inside it said “Will you be my bridesmaid?”. So sweet! I also adore her bridesmaid dresses. She is using Swoon, and is letting her maids wear the dress of their choice in her color, midnight. I sort of wish I were in the wedding party just so that I could wear one of these lovelies. I’d choose Florence, I think.
Below is her sign:
Best wishes, Laura and Scott! I hope your day is perfection! First of all, thank you so much to The Bridal Bar for the sweet blog mention yesterday! I’m truly honored for them to find Chocolate Butterbean post-worthy among their other fantastic taste-making finds and features.
Ok, I have been holding back for awhile, but Chip and I have exciting news! We are expecting, and we just found out we are having a girl! Her due date is November 19th, and we are so excited to begin this new and unfamiliar chapter of parenthood. Needless to say this will cause some shifting around in Chocolate Butterbean scheduling, so please stay posted as I will announce some final order dates to take a little time off in the fall to welcome our sweet new little family member. I will be returning in January to serve all of you 2011 brides, and I look forward to what next year will bring for CB! Of course, if you have already placed orders and I have talked with you, we are good to go – this is just for future orders.
Recently I had the opportunity to work with the extremely creative and gracious ladies of Bliss Event Group to create signage for Sara and Tyler’s wedding. Yesterday, they posted a sneak peek of the wedding on their blog, and I can’t help but share! It is always such a delight to see an event in its entirety and how all the details come together. I usually only get to see one little slice, and it’s always a treat to see more of the day, especially the precious couple! Here is their write-up, with gorgeous photography, but below is a quick snapshot of the menu that they hung from the tent ceiling. (I kept wishing I could attend after reading that menu list over and over while working on it!)
(Sara and Tyler’s names were hand penned by the talented Moya Minns, which added a lovely touch to everything!) Stephanie has a very classy, Southern style, and her invitations reflect that with a crisp black ink pressed into thick creamy Lettra:
Carlee (of High Cotton Event Design) and I attended the StudioWed event Thursday night celebrating the launch of the Summer 2010 issue of Weddings Unveiled. I think my favorite part may have been the strawberry gelato, which was such a treat on a warm summer evening! All kinds of delightful vendors were in attendance, and I was excited to see the ladies of Weddings Unveiled mentioned Chocolate Butterbean in the “Stuff We Love” portion of their beautiful publication:
I love all the other gorgeous wood items they mention, especially those gilded wooden blocks! You can see them here. Made by Cabin 7, I think these sweet works of art would be perfect for not only a wedding, but a baby nursery as well! April contacted me a few months ago to work on branding for a new family dentistry she and her husband are opening in Clemson, South Carolina. She really wanted something fresh that would appeal to the local community. I love being able to watch someone pursue a dream and see it come to fruition, and when working on a branding project, that is typically the case. They just opened their doors on the 21st, and the office looks amazing! If I lived in Clemson I wouldn’t hesitate to go, especially with those gorgeous plantation shutters and refreshing, calming color palette! April has been so much fun to work with and I wish her and Mark all the best as they launch this new endeavor. Check out Fort Hill Family Dentistry here on the web, or here on facebook.
Below is an image of their business/appointment cards, as well as some pictures of the lovely interior of the office:
Sweet Windsor’s wedding invitations just came off the presses, complete with the sacred heart that she is using throughout her wedding collateral, and gold ink with champagne roses.
Whitney wanted a save the date with a photo of herself and her fiance. (She sent me a few pictures and they were all adorable – I love the XOXO letters!) Below is the result:
Emily is a Kentucky girl, and her wedding reception will be taking place at Keeneland Race Course, in the heart of horse country (Emmie, are you reading this?). It’s going to be gorgeous, I am sure! She wanted a sign that pays tribute to one of Kentucky’s most loved traditions and below is the final result:
Best wishes to Emily and Chad! Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott renewed their vows at the beginning of May, celebrating their four years of marriage and their two adorable children. The ceremony included close family and friends, and the couple said their vows to each other while standing in a sandbox (reminiscent of their wedding in Fiji where they stood on the beach) while their babies played at their feet. Such a sweet celebration of family! Tori wanted signs to reflect those things most important to them, and below are the results. (Much better images showing the signs in context with other sweet details from the day are located at their amazing photographer’s site, Kiss the Groom, and also Engaged and Inspired.)
